USB Connection – Zebra GX430t

These instructions are for a third-party device that can be configured for the Glue Up platform. Printer, browser, and operating system settings may vary. If you need any assistance, please contact support@eventbank.com.

Important:

  • If you are using an event badge design that has a 4-inch width, the Zebra GX430t printer is your preferred option.
  • If you are using a badge design that has a 3.375 x 2.125 inches, use the Brother QL-720NW printer. Instructions for the Brother QL-720NW printer with a USB connection can be found here.
  • The Brother QL-720NW printer and Zebra GX430t printer each print in black and white.
  • Wireless printing is not available for the Zebra GX430t printer.

Setup Instructions for Printing with USB Printer Cable

When printing from your computer with a USB printer cable, Google Chrome on a Windows PC will facilitate the best user experience. Setup instructions for Mozilla Firefox can also be found below.

The following instructions are for badge paper with a 4-inch width. If you use a different paper size, configure the printer settings as needed.

 

Google Chrome for Windows – Pre-event Setup

The following is for the Google Chrome web browser on a Windows PC. We recommend using the most recent version of the browser. This process only needs to be done once for each computer that will be connected to a printer.

  1. Ensure your badge design in the Glue Up platform has a 4-inch width
  2. Download and install the following driver on your computer: https://www.zebra.com/us/en/support-downloads/printers/desktop/gx430t.html#downloadlistitem_9aa
  3. Connect the Zebra GX430t printer to your computer
  4. Enter your computer’s printer settings and go to ‘Printing Preferences’ for the Zebra GX430t device
    • Click the ‘Options’ tab, go to the ‘Paper Format’ section, and select ‘inch’ and ‘portrait’
    • Click the ‘Stocks’ tab, and click the ‘New…’ button. You may also click the ‘Change’ button if you have an existing label stock you want to adjust.
    • Complete the information in the ‘Define Stock’ popup accordingly:
      • Name – Use the size of your event badge (e.g. ‘4 x 3’ for a 4 x 3 inch badge)
      • Dimensions – Set the ‘Label Width’ to ‘4’ and ‘Label Height’ to the measurement you used in your badge design. The ‘Label Height’ will be ‘3’, ‘4’, or ‘6’.
      • Unprinted Area – Set each of the fields to ‘0’
      • Click ‘OK’
    • Click ‘OK’

 

 

Google Chrome for Windows – Printing Onsite

These settings should be set up and tested prior to event check-in. The following is for the Google Chrome web browser on a Windows PC. We recommend using the most recent version of the browser for onsite printing. If you are using the Mozilla Firefox web browser, please see Mozilla Firefox for Windows – Printing Onsite. Please ensure a wifi network is accessible to use the Glue Up platform.

  1. In the Glue Up platform, go to ‘Standard Check-in’ inside your event.
  2. When you click ‘Print Badge’, a print preview window will appear. The following settings should be selected:
    • Destination– Zebra GX430t Printer
    • Layout– Portrait
    • Click ‘More Settings’and select the following:
      • Paper Size– Select the appropriate label stock size that matches the respective batch you are printing (e.g. ‘4 x 3’ for a 4 x 3 inch badge)
      • Margin– Custom (This must be tested and can be changed as badge designs may vary.)
      • Quality– 300 dpi (This must be tested and can be changed as badge designs may vary.)
      • Scale– 100 (This must be tested and can be changed as badge designs may vary.)
      • Options– Ensure the checkbox for ‘Headers and footers’ is not ticked
  1. Press ‘Print’

 

 

Mozilla Firefox for Windows – Printing Onsite

These settings should be set up and tested prior to event check-in. The following is for the Mozilla Firefox web browser on a Windows PC. We recommend using the most recent version of the browser for onsite printing. If you are using the Google Chrome web browser, please see Google Chrome for Windows – Printing Onsite. Please ensure a wifi network is accessible to use the Glue Up platform.

  1. In the Glue Up platform, go to ‘Standard Check-in’ inside your event.
  2. Click the three-line menu button in the top right and click ‘Print’. In the print preview window click the ‘Page Setup’ button.
    • In the ‘Format & Options’ tab, select the following:
      • Orientation – Select ‘Portrait’
      • Scale – Tick the checkbox for ‘Shrink to fit Page Width’ (This must be tested and can be changed as badge designs may vary.)
    • Click the ‘Margins & Header/Footer’ tab
      • Margins – Set each of the fields to ‘0’
      • Headers & Footers – Set each of the fields to ‘–blank–’
    • Click ‘OK’
  3. Close the print preview window.
  4. When you click ‘Print Badge’, a ‘Print’ settings window will appear. Select your respective printer.
  5. Click the ‘Properties…” button
    • Select the proper label stock.
  6. Press ‘Print’
